Most disabled children live in very poor conditions without access to basic needs such as medical facilities, clean water, sanitation, and good nutrition. Due to the continued marginalization of the pastoral communities in Kenya, disabled children within Samburu district have found themselves in a situation of greater need. This has specifically led to low access to education, to medical & rehabilitation treatments, to work opportunities and social integration, and to fewer opportunities for self-reliance & self-sustainment.
As a result, this children's home program was set up to promote education for blind and disabled children, to improve their life skills through rehabilitation, to provide medical and educational access for the children, and to provide a safe environment full of love, hope, and dignity. The blind and the handicapped can be a productive group of people in the society if their potential is fully developed.
